Gyanwant Yadav (b. 1992, Uttar Pradesh) is a visual artist based in New Delhi. He holds a BFA (2017) and MFA (2019) from the College of Art, Delhi University.
His work seeks meaning in altering landscape of rural specifically at intersection with materiality and farming. The work gets expressed through natural and organic material in drawing, painting, performance, installation and mixed media form. The rural farming is microcosm of rural happenings where the tools used showcases caste, social inequality and artificial fertilizers which gets etched in illness to farmer. The layering and rough scratches in the work depicts these hard realities. And the unbalance world of rural world gets reflected in limited variety of seeds where the nature is forcefully stopped from flourishing affecting human and environment.
The artwork endeavour to fetch new meanings in these realities and render voice to most neglected and unrepresented rural space.
Gyanwant’s work has been exhibited at 100 young artist Raja Foundation, Emami Art, Nine Fish Art Gallery, and the Call to disorder Serendipity Arts Festival. He has received the Inlaks Fine Art Award (2023), Experimentor Generator 2024, Hyundai Art for Hope Grant (2025), and multiple College of Art accolades.
